Founded when Rob was just 26 years old, Robco started as a small venture with big ambitions. With a newly earned degree and his electrical license in hand, Rob established a pure play electrical contracting company driven by a customer-first, grassroots approach to growth. However, when market winds shifted during the economic downturn, commercial construction demand slowed, and Rob knew he needed to expand Robco’s service offerings. He saw a golden opportunity when Robco’s largest client, the Clark County School District, backed by federal funding, began requiring certified solar installers.
“Diversification was key for our business and its growth,” Rob explained during a recent conversation with Enphase. “We needed to find another business line, and solar energy fit perfectly into our existing business model.”
Thanks to Robco’s early strategic diversification, it now has three thriving business units offering integrated solar, commercial electrical, and low-voltage solutions. Robco employees are cross-trained across divisions to maximize efficiency and ensure dynamic, responsive customer service.
Leading by example
Key to Robco’s success in solar has been its commitment to providing reliable, long-lasting systems with high-quality components. A practical, hands-on leader, Rob even installed solar on his own home to better understand the homeowner experience when going solar. The results were striking: His monthly power bills plummeted from roughly $500 to just $20.
“Instead of paying utility bills, I put my kids through college,” he said with a grin. More than a decade of energy savings has also provided Rob with a powerful case study for potential customers. “I like to show them my power bills and say to them, ‘Here is 11 years of proof that it worked for me—and it can work for you too.’”
While Robco offers both commercial and residential solar solutions, Rob has always had a soft spot for the personal connections he creates with homeowners. “Putting solar on homes gives me a direct connection to people's lives. It makes me feel like we are truly making a difference,” he shared. “It provides even more motivation for us to get it right from the start, ensuring high-quality solutions so that our time—and our customers' time—is spent efficiently and effectively.”

As a savvy business leader, Rob didn’t jump into solar without doing his homework first. Today, Robco installs Enphase microinverters in all of its solar systems, from school districts to homes across the state of Nevada. While most projects are grid-connected rooftop systems, Enphase microinverters can enable installers to provide reliable, long-lasting systems for off-grid projects and other unique circumstances.
In January, Robco completed an off-grid solar + storage project for a fire station in Mount Charleston, just 45 minutes from Las Vegas. A local homeowner, thrilled with their Robco solar system, recommended the company to the fire department when it sought a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to its generators during power outages.
“When emergency services lose power, lives are literally at stake,” Rob explained. “The fire department needed a solution they could trust—and that’s where we came in.” The system features 42 Enphase IQ8A Microinverters and has 14.6 kW of solar capacity, as well as eight Enphase IQ Battery 5P units totaling 40 kWh of storage, providing essential and uninterrupted backup power for critical emergency services. A 22-kW generator, which is integrated with the Enphase Energy System, also provides seamless, extended power to the fire station.
