IQ Meter Collar utility approvals

Below is a list of utilities that have approved the use of the IQ Meter Collar. If your utility is not listed, please contact your Enphase representative.

Installation methods

The IQ Meter Collar can be installed in two ways: behind the utility meter or as a standalone unit using a meter socket pan. Typically, only installations behind the utility meter require approval from the local utility.

Standalone installation

In a standalone installation, the IQ Meter Collar is installed in its own dedicated meter socket pan, separate from the utility’s meter. Typically, utility approval is not required, and the installer can complete the installation without utility involvement. In some cases, utility involvement may be required for power turn-off.

Behind-the-meter installation

In a behind-the-meter installation, the IQ Meter Collar is placed between the utility meter and the meter base. Because it connects to utility-owned equipment, approval from the local utility is required, and the installation is typically performed by the utility.

Meter base compatibility

The IQ Meter Collar is compatible with both ring-type and ringless meter bases. Unless otherwise noted, the utilities listed below allow installation with either type. If a utility only supports ring-type bases, it will be marked as such.

RING-TYPE

Ring-type bases use a circular lip that allows a locking ring to secure the meter or meter collar to the base.

RINGLESS

Ringless bases rely on the meter base’s dead front cover to secure the meter or meter collar—no locking ring required.
