Support for Legacy SunPower system installers

If you are a Legacy SunPower system installer, you may have questions. Below are answers to some frequently asked questions.

Enphase is available for further assistance. Contact us at spwrquery@enphaseenergy.com or (510) 945-6752.

A Legacy SunPower system is a solar system that was sold by the former SunPower Corporation and installed before September 30, 2024. The term “Legacy SunPower” is used to refer to these earlier systems to distinguish them from products and services offered by the current SunPower organization.

If your solar system was installed before this date, it may be referred to as a Legacy SunPower system in support information and service communications. This helps clarify which systems were installed by the former SunPower Corporation.

Enphase can provide Legacy SunPower Installers IQ7HS Microinverters for continuity of supply. The Enphase IQ7HS SKU is compatible with the SPWR-A5 microinverter SKU and approved by UL. Legacy SunPower Installers will also have access to our IQ8 Series Microinverters which are manufactured in the U.S. and have domestic content applicable for lease and PPA installations. Enphase products can be obtained from our authorized distribution partners in the U.S.

Yes. Enphase will honor the terms of the Enphase limited warranty for Enphase products used in Legacy SunPower system. For more information about Enphase warranties, visit our warranty page.

SunPower installers should first contact SunPower (Complete Solaria) customer service to request an RMA for a failed Enphase microinverter. If SunPower customer service is unavailable, follow the steps outlined below.

If you know which microinverter has failed, collect the information remotely:

  • Serial number
  • A picture of the input DC and output AC voltage from your SunPower cloud account
  • Error reported by the system
  • List of troubleshooting steps completed (e.g. breaker check, junction box inspection)

If you’re unsure which microinverter has failed, a site visit will be required:

  • Visit the site and locate the microinverter with a solid red LED
  • Take a picture of the microinverter serial number and LED status
  • Take measurements of the DC and AC voltage on the microinverter (a zero or very low DC voltage typically indicates a panel problem)
  • List of troubleshooting steps completed (e.g. breaker check, junction box inspection)

Send the information collected above, along with the following homeowner and installer details, to support_sunpower@enphase.com.

SunPower’s monitoring platform is managed by SunPower (Complete Solaria). Because of this, Enphase cannot provide immediate technical support for Legacy SunPower systems that are connected to the SunPower monitoring platform.

Legacy SunPower systems can be modified to communicate with the Enphase monitoring platform by adding an IQ Gateway and CTs. Once connected, installers and homeowners can receive 24/7 technical support directly from Enphase.

Yes, panel-level monitoring using the Enphase App is available for systems with Enphase IQ Microinverters and the Enphase Monitoring Kit.

To enable panel-level monitoring, an array map must be registered by Enphase. Email care@enphase.com with the customer’s name, address, and the array map file with the serial number for each microinverter.

SunPower systems connect to a proprietary monitoring platform and the mySunPower app. Whether powered by Enphase or not, Legacy SunPower systems can be modified to communicate with the Enphase Monitoring Platform and the Enphase App by adding an IQ Gateway and current transformers to measure both production and consumption.

The installation of Enphase monitoring requires additional programming and software updates that are best performed by an Enphase field service technician. Additionally, Enphase offers a one-year limited workmanship warranty on installation services when performed by an Enphase field service technician. Contact us at spwrquery@enphaseenergy.com or 510-945-6752 for more information.

Yes, an Enphase Storage system includes a new Enphase IQ Gateway when you commission the new Enphase Storage system. Please call us to discuss upgrade options.

Enphase Care is a solar service plan that provides ongoing support and monitoring for your Enphase system. It includes continuous system monitoring, 24/7 technical support, and $0 on-site labor for covered repairs.

Enphase monitors your system around the clock to detect potential issues and resolve many of them remotely. If an on-site visit is needed for a covered repair, a technician will be scheduled at no additional labor cost.

Enphase Care is available for homeowners with Enphase IQ Microinverters and/or IQ Batteries connected to the Enphase monitoring platform through an IQ Gateway. The plan is available as an annual or 10-year subscription.
