Know your Enphase storage system

Each battery model has a different power delivery capacity—measured in kilowatts (kW)—and total energy storage in kilowatt-hours (kWh): 

• Continuous power: The amount of energy the battery can deliver over time.
• Peak power: The maximum short burst it can deliver (useful for starting motors or heavy appliances). 

Viewing battery specs and performance from the Enphase App

To check how your battery is performing:

• Open the Enphase App.
• Tap the Energy tab and you will see:
  • Current charging/discharging power
  • Battery charge level (percentage)
  • Daily charge/discharge patterns

To see the battery model and specs:

• Go to Menu > System > Devices
• Tap on your battery name to view its type (e.g., IQ Battery 10T), firmware, and hardware info

How to calculate energy used from the battery

• Tap the Energy tab.
• Choose a timeframe—Today, Week, Month.
• Look for Battery Discharged to know how many kWh your home used from the battery.

For example:
If your battery discharged 4.2 kWh today, that means 4.2 units of electricity were drawn from your battery rather than the grid. 

Enphase IQ Batteries operate under different system profiles that control how and when your battery charges or discharges. The most common is Self-Consumption, where solar energy is stored during the day and used at night—helping you use more of your own solar power and rely less on the grid. If you're on a Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity plan, the TOU profile helps the battery discharge during peak-rate hours and charge when rates are lower, maximizing cost savings.

If you want your battery ready for outages, you can switch to Backup mode—either full or partial—reserving some or all of the stored energy for emergencies. Each profile is designed to meet a specific goal, whether it's reducing your bills, staying powered during blackouts, or simply using more solar.

To make the most of your backup system, it’s important to follow some best practices—before, during, and after an outage. This guide outlines everything you need to know to ensure your system performs reliably when you need it most.

Key reminders:

• Make sure your IQ Gateway remains powered and connected to the internet
• Charge your battery to full and adjust Backup Reserve accordingly
• Reduce home loads during the storm to extend backup duration 

To adjust battery settings like setting shutdown and reserve levels, navigate to Menu > Settings > Battery from your Enphase App.
